Baseball Ending, Swimming Starting
The past weekend saw the end of Landon's regular season
of baseball. By winning both games over the weekend for
a season record of 10-3-1, we should have secured 2nd
place going into the playoffs, which will begin in
about a week. I think there are 4 teams that all
realistically have a chance at winning it all. It's all
going to boil down to who's team "shows up" these next
few games. We'll start of with a 3 game round robin
starting next week. Then, based solely on those 3
games, the top teams will move on to the championship
rounds. I'm guessing that 4 teams will go to
championship rounds so we can have a semifinal and a
final. So it looks like we will play 3-5 more games
over the next few weeks--hopefully 5!
As for Luke, they played a tournament up in Aurora last weekend and did very well, winning their 2 pool play games against Panther Black (11-4) and Rocker Silver (12-2). It was good to beat the Panthers as they are a Majors team and just shows they the Lightning should also be in Majors. Unfortunately, they succumbed in the tournament semifinals against the Windsor Wizards. They are a strong division-1 team and they only lost 10-7. Luke pitched 4 strong innings in that one. In fact, his pitching was a large reason the game was close. He came into the game with his team down 7-1.
The Lightning have 5 more games to play over the next week and a half to complete their regular season. They currently sit in 2nd place but only because they haven't played as many games as the first place Diamond Dogs. I fully expect them to win every game the rest of the way.
Swimming is just getting into high gear. Last week Landon was able to swim his first meet of the summer. He competed with 7 AND 8 year olds and won every event except his breaststroke, which at first glance is unheard of. However, the kid that won was some huge 8 year old that towered over Landon, and he only lost by a stroke. I will bet that by the end of the summer, Landon will have him licked. Also, from what he know of his times, he has already qualified for the All-Stars competition! I swear the kid is a fish...
The upcoming weekend will be nice since we have no baseball on the calendar so they will both be able to swim at their meet.

Lightning Make The Paper
Winning the Pikes Peak tournament got the Lightning
into the YourHub section of the Denver Post.
Fortunately, since we don't get the paper, I was able
to find the story online!
